Your equitable tech hiring solution

By working with LA-Tech.org, tech companies have a unique opportunity to hire untapped talent from local underserved communities in Los Angeles.

In turn, this ensures more local employees, a diverse pipeline and creates opportunities for young people who have been disconnected from the sector.

Students who choose a career in tech vs the median job in LA County earn $2M more over their lifetime.

The effect this has on individuals, families, communities and the industry is transformative.

LA’s tech community has recognized their part in ensuring tech careers are accessible to low income communities of color.

Our 1,000 Interns Initiative is an ambitious program started by LA-Tech.org and LA’s tech community. It is designed to provide economic opportunities to low income communities of color and other groups who have been historically disconnected with equal opportunity in the tech sector.

The interns’ experience will be individually varied. Although many of our students may not have been given the opportunity to work in tech before, they have a plethora of transferable skills from previous opportunities.

LA-Tech.org offers a service to connect your employees with meaningful volunteer opportunities in Los Angeles.

Maintaining an active volunteering component to any workplace increases employee retention and boosts morale. LA-Tech.org has created The Volunteer Marketplace a simple way to keep your employees engaged with important acts of service within the LA area.

Our volunteer opportunities are mostly centered around supporting students and young people entering the tech workforce through resume reviews, mock interviews, mentorship and speaking engagements. This helps the next generation of diverse tech leaders learn and grow.

On our platform, the volunteer opportunities can be matched based on the volunteer’s unique skills and/ or preferred activities. This creates an ease of use, accessibility and efficiency in connecting tech companies with important volunteer opportunities.

For more information, check out the Volunteer Marketplace here or email Marialuisa Ferro for more information.

Volunteering

“Volunteering with LA-Tech.org has been a tremendous value-added to my personal development. Not only was I able to share my experiences and knowledge with extremely bright college students, but I also learned a lot myself from co-presenters and the students. I highly recommend volunteering with LA-Tech.org for any professional who wants to ‘pay it forward.’”
